Why SpellRead?
SpellRead is backed by independent scientific research proving its effectiveness. SpellRead was the only Canadian program that made it to the top four in one of the largest clinical trials of reading interventions ever conducted in the U.S.: ‘Power4Kids’. It is also currently delivered within the public school system in numerous states. SpellRead’s scientifically-proven delivery method has already transformed the lives of 2000 students in Halifax in the past ten years – you can benefit too!
What is SpellRead?
SpellRead is a one-year intervention program that focuses on developing students' phonological automaticity, as well as lifelong comprehension skills.
Comprehensive Instructional Cycle
SpellRead combines effective reading instruction with a proven delivery method.
This intensive intervention model is designed for groups of up to six students with one certified teacher or paraprofessional, ideally in a 60- to 120-minute instructional block.
Instructional cycle includes:
• Linguistic Foundations builds automaticity with scaffolded phonics and phonemic awareness activities.
• Active Reading supports students’ fluency through oral-reading practice using trade books and leveled readers.
• Writing Connections develops students’ ability to turn oral language into written language.
