At Halifax Learning, we believe in the science of reading. For over twenty years, we’ve provided effective and evidence-driven literacy programming to obtain measurable, life-changing results for young readers.
The obvious next step is to create strong written competency. We are excited to announce we are now offering Writing Connections: an intensive, explicit approach building practical writing skills. This six month series of weekly classes was developed and is presented by Speech Language Pathologist and professional author, Natalie Corbett. Instruction starts with the very smallest building blocks of written language and works up through complexity to narratives. Interactive instruction is used to tackle:
- Parts of speech
- Sentence structure
- Confusing word pairs
- Types of Paragraphs
- Poetry and Correspondence
- Brainstorming and editing
Practice and home programming are provided to reach mastery and strong written competence. If you would like more information on our Writing Connections, please reach out to Natalie.
Registration for this class is $1500 and can be paid in monthly installments. Many private health insurance plans have coverage for Speech and Language intervention.
"If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot."

Our assessment is not a product of the SpellRead program, but an independent standardized assessment which provides benchmarks for the foundational skills identified in research required for efficient reading.
You will also receive a digital copy of the report within two business days and an in-person consultation with one of our expert reading practitioners. This information can help in school supports as well.
