It refers to frequency (daily sessions), duration (each session is substantial, typically 60-90 minutes), and focus (each session targets specific, assessed skill gaps). What Happens in a Session?
A structured literacy intervention session typically includes phonological awareness practice, phonics instruction and review, fluency building with decodable or appropriately leveled text, word work (spelling, morphology), and time for connected reading and writing.
